Who are we?

We grew into GROUPWORK, CONSULTATION AND TRAINING LTD, from small beginnings in
Greenwich, London, in 1986. Over the last 25 years, we have proved ourselves to be a respected, trusted organisation with a tried and tested track record.

Our service has been exclusively with the staff of the public sector who often find themselves thrown in at the deep end to run groups. Participants come from the Health services, Probation, Social Services, Education Authorities, Drug and Alcohol Projects, and other Voluntary organisations. Anyone, in fact, who needs to learn how a group, whether with clients, patients, or colleague meetings, operates.
Because we are open to learning from our participants, we have built up a considerable body of expertise and knowledge. It gives us pride to acknowledge that we are the only organisation specialising in Social Groupwork in the United Kingdom.

Our own courses are held in Greenwich, London. But we also provide in-service courses from Scotland to Cornwall, and in Northern Ireland. Our pride in our service stems from the fact that we only consider ourselves as good as our last course. Which means we work very hard to give a consistently high standard of training. Continual evaluation from both user-Organisations and participants help us to maintain these standards.

We aim to offer a supportive, enjoyable experience where participants learn by being in a group. It is a safe way to build confidence, learn about groupwork theory and group processes, all of which are linked to practice. Our courses are suitable for beginners, those who need a refresher; or who have been running groups without knowledge of theory or process, but have hard-won experience.
The current economic climate means that it will be hard, in the Public Sector, to maintain service provision.

Groupwork, following an initial outlay, is an useful and acceptable answer. It maximises client numbers whilst minimising staff time.
