A Cognitive Behavioural Programme Manual for Individual Work with Young People.

Two Day Workshop

Aims:
This course will appeal to a cross section of practitioners and will enable participants to improve their one - to- one skills and add structure to their work with young people.

Content:
Recent research has demonstrated that the Cognitive Behavioural approach is one of the most effective ways of working with a wide range of clients including substance abusers, young offenders, people with mental health problems, and recidivist offenders.

The course provides an overview of the Cognitive Behavioural theory base on Day one. Participants are then given the opportunity to practise delivering sessions from a one - to - one manual which they can take away with them and use with their own clients.

This is an interactive course which gives enables participants to develop their group work skills. The manual provided for participants covers the following areas:
• Goal setting
• Motivation
• Problem solving
• Assertiveness
• Self talk
• Relapse prevention
• Victim awareness
