A Cognitive Behavioural Approach To Groupwork

Two Day Workshop

Aims
This course will appeal to a cross section of groupwork practitioners and will enable participants to set up and run their own cognitive behavioural groups.

Content
Recent research has demonstrated that cognitive behavioural group work is one of the most effective ways of working with a wide range of clients including. substance abusers, people with mental health problems, and recidivist offenders.

The course provides an overview of the cognitive behavioural theory base on day one. Participants are then given the opportunity to practise delivering sessions from a group work manual which they can take away with them and use with their own clients.

This is an interactive course which gives enables participants to develop their group work skills. The manual provided for participants covers the following areas: Goal setting Motivation Problem solving Assertiveness Self talk Relapse prevention

Participants receive feedback from the facilitator, and by the end of the course they will be familiar with the material and be able to run cognitive behavioural groups with their clients.
