Cognitive Behavioural approach to Groupwork (CBT)

Two Day Workshop

This course will appeal to a cross section of groupwork practitioners and will enable
participants to set up and run their own cognitive behavioural groups.

Recent research has demonstrated that cognitive behavioural groupwork is one of the
most effective ways of working with a wide range of clients including substance abusers,
people with mental health problems, and recidivist offenders.

 The course provides an overview of the cognitive behavioural theory base on Day One.
Participants are then given the opportunity to practise delivering sessions from a
groupwork manual which is given to them for use with their own clients.

This is an interactive course which enables participants to develop their groupwork
skills.

The groupwork manual provided for participants covers the following areas: Goal setting  Motivation Problem solving Assertiveness Self talk Relapse prevention
